OMAHA, Neb. — A local couple saved approximately $9 on groceries Saturday by visiting three separate stores across a four-hour period.
Dave and Karen Lindqvist began at a warehouse retailer, continued to a regional chain for produce and finished at a discount grocer for items described as “the cheap stuff.”
The route covered 41 miles.
“You have to know where the value is,” Dave Lindqvist said.
“Nine dollars is nine dollars,” he added.
The couple purchased lunch during the second stop at a cost of $23, which they described as unrelated.
Fuel costs were not immediately available.
Karen Lindqvist said the day had also served as time spent together, a benefit she declined to quantify.
The couple plan to repeat the route next Saturday, adding a fourth store.
